DAY 1 TUE JUN 06 - Depart USA * / Arrive in Lima, Peru

Board your flight to Lima. Upon arrival, you are met and transferred to your hotel.
Accommodation: Melia Lima

DAY 2 WED JUN 07 - Lima

Breakfast at the hotel. See the Huaca Pucllana archaeological site, a structure inhabited between the 5th and 8th centuries. Next is the Plaza Mayor, the historical center of Lima. On to the 16th century San Francisco Monastery and the residential districts of San Isidro and Miraflores for the splendid view. The rest of the day is free.

DAY 3 THU JUN 08 - Lima / Cuzco

Breakfast at the hotel Transfer to the airport for the flight to Cuzco. Upon arrival, you are taken to your hotel. Take time to acclimate to the altitude. On a city tour this afternoon, see Plaza del Regocijo, Plaza de Armas and the Cathedral. Next, visit several Inca ruins.

DAY 4 FRI JUN 09 - Cuzco

Breakfast at the hotel. A free day to explore Cuzco.

DAY 5 SAT JUN 10 - Cuzco / Sacred Valley

Breakfast at the hotel. Today, descend into the magical “Sacred Valley.” Travel first to Ollantaytambo to visit the fortress and take walking tour of the quaint village. Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant. Continue to Pisac, an Andean village known for its traditional market. (Best days for the Pisac market are Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.)

DAY 6 SUN JUN 11 - Sacred Valley / Machu Picchu
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer for the train trip to Machu Picchu. On arrival, ascend by coach to the ruins for a guided walking tour. Lunch will be served at the Sanctuary Lodge. Dinner will be served at the hotel.
Accommodation: El Mapi by Inkaterra Hotel (B,L,D)

Machu Picchu is built on a steep hill, with uneven pathways, rocky terrain and no handrails. Visitors should be in good health and be able to walk without assistance.

NOTE: On the train to Machu Picchu, only hand luggage can be taken. Your main suitcase will be transferred to Cuzco and stored.

DAY 7 MON JUN 12– Machu Picchu / Cuzco
Breakfast at the hotel. Early risers may explore Machu Picchu at sunrise (entrance to the citadel is included). This afternoon, travel back to Cuzco.

DAY 8 TUE JUN 13- Cuzco / Lima
Breakfast at the hotel. Take a late morning flight to Lima. This afternoon, join a tour to the famed Larco Herrera and the Archaeological Museums. Later, you will have dinner before transferring the airport to join your homebound flight that departs shortly after midnight. (Archaeological Museum is closed on Mondays.) (B,D)
DAY 9 WED JUN 14- Depart Lima / USA
Your homebound flight departs shortly after midnight.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS
Passengers should check with the consulates and/or the local health boards for the latest health requirements. At time of printing, Costa Rica requires a yellow fever vaccination for travelers coming from Bolivia, Brazil, Columbia, Ecuador and Venezuela; Ecuador requires a yellow fever vaccination for travel into the Amazon Rainforest and Brazil requires a yellow fever vaccination to enter Brazil from Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, or Columbia, whether by ship or by plane. It is strongly recommended that any travelers to Brazil, Argentina or Paraguay be inoculated for yellow fever. Additional immunizations may also be required. Bolivia requires a yellow fever certificate of vaccination (original, not a photocopy) upon entry.
