One Stop Business Resource Center

Is dedicated to helping establish and expand businesses.  Provides a variety of management and technical assistance programs designed to help the aspiring and existing business owner. 

Technical Assistance Program:

  1. Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce Business Development – Develops, retains, and expands businesses by maximizing access to information, customers, and capital.  It serves as the host and managing partner and oversees the collaboration, development and coordination of all center partners.
  2. Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE)- A Voluntary, nonprofit organization of highly experienced business people, most of whom are retired.  Provides free, on-site business counseling to prospective and current business entrepreneurs.
  3. Small Business Development Center (SBDC)-Provide one-on-one counseling and training.  Assistance is available in new business start-up, capital formation, business planning, SBA financing and business and financial analysis.
  4. UTEP College of Business – Offers assistance on a variety of initiatives, including the Franchise Business Center, the Center for Family-owned/Closely-held businesses, and State Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB’s) Certification.
  5. Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) – Provided by the Defense Logistics Agency of the Department of Defense.  It assists clients with interactive and remote literature services, vendor searches, and expert consultants to access the bidding process for government contracts.  Offers training in Electronic Commerce and Electronic Data Interchange and provides information regarding Texas State HUB’s.
  6. Nonprofit Enterprise Center – a resource center for nonprofit organizations.  It is fully committed to the success of community and nonprofit organization in the Paso del Norte region.  It provides a myriad of services, including nonprofit clinics, workshops, conferences and consulting.  Its “Engine 501” program is now available, providing organization with an Organizational Assessment and targeted technical assistance.
  7. Veterans Business Association -  mission is to help U.S. Armed Forces Veterans make a successful transition from active duty military services to civilian life.

Access to Capital:

As any business owner knows, access to capital is critical to expand, buy inventory, secure support services, advertise, and more.  The center can assist businesses to get the funding they need through partnering organizations.

 Access to Capital Partners:

  1. Accion Texas – Designated as a Community Development Financial Institution and Micro-lender.  Provides credit repair and loans to applicants who are often turned down by conventional lenders. 
  2. GECU – El Paso’s largest full service credit union with a full-time presence in the One Stop.  Providing commercial loans from $25,000 to $250,000.
  3. El Paso Collaborative for Community and Economic Development- Serves the low income community by facilitating affordable housing, small business and economic development.
  4. Assist in financing enterprise with a commercial lender, providing full-service commercial loan services to small businesses.  Local and regional commercial lenders include:

                        *  Wells Fargo Bank
                        *  Bank of the West
                        *   First Federal Bank
                        *   Bank of America
                        *   Chase Manhattan Bank
                        *   Compass Bank

  1. The One Stop helps entrepreneurs with referrals to finance and factoring companies, which can provide invoice and accounts receivable factoring, as well as government contracts and construction financing.  These companies include:

                        *  MarketSense Funding
                        *  Catalyst Financial
                        *  CIT Small Business Lending

Business Information Center:

For the latest computer technology, hardware and software, and extensive business reference library of books, publications, and current management videotapes for entrepreneurs, the Business Information Center is an invaluable resource.
