Relocation

For El Pasoans, quality of life encompasses not only the tangible, such as an affordable cost of living, but also a culture shaped by 400 years of history and influenced by several diverse groups. From the Mission Trail to opera and rodeo, there’s no place quite like El Paso.

Christened El Paso del Norte (the Pass of the North) by Don Juan de Oñate in 1598, the fertile valley and surrounding mountains were the first all-weather path through the Rockies. The sun shines on El Paso 302 days per year or 83 percent of the daylight hours, leading to its moniker as the “Sun City.” Low humidity and moderate rainfall combine to create a year-round climate exclusive to the region.

Residential Real Estate:

Homes in El Paso are generally spacious and competitively priced. El Paso’s half-dozen residential regions are defined in relation to the Franklin Mountains which divide the city east and west.

El Paso has more than 300 apartment complexes, providing furnished and unfurnished accommodations throughout town. The Greater El Paso Apartment Guide is available at area convenience stores or through the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce along with America's fastest growing apartment book, Apartment Finder offers information about long-term, short-term and corporate housing rental communities in over 90 markets nationwide.  Quality apartment homes, including locator maps and directories, are showcased in a full-color format.

Religious Institutions:

El Paso has over 348 churches and synagogues representing more than 60 denominations

Crime Rate:

El Paso’s crime rate generally is much lower than cities of similar size in the region. The National Crime Prevention Council ranked El Paso as one of "Six Safer Cities" across the nation. In 2001, Money Magazine ranked El Paso as the 3rd safest city with a population of over 500,000 in the US. In the same category, the Christian Science Monitor rated El Paso No. 1 in 1999.

Outdoor Recreation:

El Paso’s mild climate accommodates outdoor sports enthusiasts year round. The city provides plenty of parks and gardens as well as mountain and desert trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. El Paso has four private golf courses, two military courses, and seven public courses, including Painted Dunes Golf Course which Golf Digest ranked No. 2 in the country. Tennis players can choose from over 25 public and private facilities in the city.
