Downtown Deck Park
The El Paso Chamber believes that a thriving downtown is essential to a thriving city. That's why we have spent years championing the infrastructure investments, public policies, and community partnerships needed to bring El Paso's urban core back to life, and no project better embodies that vision than the El Paso Deck Plaza.
Building El Paso's Future
The El Paso Chamber has been a driving force behind one of the most transformational infrastructure projects in our city's history ā the El Paso Deck Plaza. Modeled after Dallas's beloved Klyde Warren Park, the 6.5-acre Deck Plaza will span Interstate 10 through downtown El Paso, stitching together a long-divided urban core and creating a vibrant, free public space for all to enjoy. With amphitheater performances, green spaces, playgrounds, and a dog park in the heart of the city, the Plaza is designed to elevate quality of life for El Pasoans and draw the region's 12 million annual visitors from Mexico deeper into our downtown.
The economic impact of this project is immense. An independent study by HR&A Advisors projects nearly $1 billion in economic output over 30 years, with construction alone injecting approximately $310 million into the local economy and supporting 1,850 jobs and $98 million in wages. Beyond construction, the Plaza is expected to generate 1,707 new residential units within a half-mile radius, expand the city's property and sales-tax base, and concentrate private investment in a corridor that has long been overlooked.
The Deck Plaza is a statement about El Paso's future. At a time when population growth has flattened and development has trended outward, this project brings investment, energy, and opportunity back to the heart of our city. Alongside an expanded convention center, a new ballpark, and a growing restaurant and hotel scene, the Deck Plaza will serve as the crown jewel of a reimagined downtown, one that attracts families, businesses, and visitors for generations to come.
